Not too many years ago Lorrie and I were on a destructive path in our marriage. Both of us were on a train traveling a hundred miles an hour away from each other. Over time and with help we turned things around and we work to continue to grow together and desire to help others do the same. That is what One Heartbeat is all about: Strengthening marriages.
What We See -Our Vision
We believe that strong marriages are the core of a strong community. We envision a flourishing, vibrant, strong community of healthy marriages and families that are engaged, supportive and involved. Ultimately changing the face of our families and communities for the better.
Our Undertaking –The Mission
Our mission is to Strengthen Marriages.
Our Hands and Feet at Work –The Way
By providing couples with tools, resources and opportunities to come together for fun, education, encouragement and inspiration for their marriages and relationships we hope to see in them the positive changes that we now look back and see in our marriage. Through Date Nights, marriage seminars and conferences, retreats, small groups, marital and pre-marital counseling, radio programs, videos, blogs and more we will continue to help couples develop healthy marriages that honor God, strengthen families and build community.
“Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as a re-builder of walls and a restorer of homes.” – Isaiah 58:12

Their passion to see marriages thrive gave way to the creation of the ministry Marry Me 4 Life, where they help couples live in and on God’s purpose for their marriage. With a blend of 5 kids that lends way to great harmony, this couple keeps family at the center and God as the foundation to their joy in doing all that they are privileged by grace to accomplish. Their heartbeat for marriages are to see couples pray, play, and stay together 4 life.
Mark and Kelly met in college, although not the same college. Kelly is a graduate from Ole Miss and Mark, unfortunately, is a graduate from Mississippi State University. Despite Marks collegiate shortcomings they have been married for 12 years. Mark is a graphic designer and founder of Firm Design. He plays the electric guitar (since he was 14!) and usually handles the cooking. Kelly is the co-owner of Dance Academy West, loves to sew and handles the bills, They are both extremely passionate about what they do and feel truly blessed to be doing what they love.
In 2006 Mark & Kelly welcomed Taylor Jane into the world and have been busy keeping up with her ever since. “We really want to help provide tools for families to succeed. We’re both Christians but we’re trying to raise a child and hold our marriage together. And we were failing at really communicating our needs, wants, and desires. We had difficult times in our marriage and have seen many friends go through divorce. It wasn’t until we took a class lead by David and Lorrie McIntyre that we actually knew how to communicate with each other! Consequently, we both found ourselves wanting to share our new findings and revelations with others. “We truly want to see this community take back family and give it to its rightful owner, the Lord Jesus Christ!”
Dexter and Trece Garrison met while serving in youth ministry together. After about a year, their friendship developed into a God centered relationship drawing them closer together. God revealed to Dexter that He had handpicked Trece for him. Five months from their first date, Dexter and Trece entered their covenant with God and each other, (11 years and counting). Surrounded by Godly couples who poured into their marriage, they desired for their marriage to be a blessing to other marriages.
The Garrison’s have helped promote Family Life’s Weekend To Remember, helped organize couples conferences and outings and taught 2=1, Married for Life small groups and Family Life, Home Builder small groups. Dexter and Trece serve together in children’s and youth ministry, organized a teen True Love Waits Conference, Holy Outreach for Teens, and Vacation Bible Schools. They have been blessed by God with 5 children. The Garrisons heart beat is to grow and nurture families to reflect the image of God.
Leann & LaWon believe they were brought together by nothing less than the divine appointment of their savior, and their testimony is evidence of this fact. LaWon, born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and Leann, born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, met their freshman year at Pensacola Christian College (Pensacola, FL) where Leann was pursuing a degree in Math and Science education and LaWon a degree in business and accounting. After seven years of courtship, LaWon and Leann were married. They have been blessed with two wonderful children, Caleb and Joshua. While Leann cares for the boys, LaWon works as Chief Estimator for a specialty commercial sub contractor in Atlanta. LaWon and Leann joined One Heartbeat because they saw the need to have families and marriages strengthened after watching two close families devastated by divorce, all within six months of each other.
Chris and Sabrina Hayes have been married 13 years. They are co-principals of Amalgamated Pixels, a full-service graphic and web design firm based in Atlanta, GA. Their heart for marriages shows in the small group for married couples that they’ve led for over three years, the annual marriage retreat they lead to Pigeon Forge, TN each spring, and their involvement with One Heartbeat. Chris and Sabrina love to travel, laugh, and most of all, fellowship with other Christian married couples. Their motto for successful Christian married life is “always taking it back to the beginning…when you first fell in love.” Serving God, each other, and their church are their passions in life. Chris and Sabrina have three beautiful girls, Victoria, 12, Jordan, 11, and Cameron, 6.
Josh and Jennifer Maxwell have been married for 9 years. They first met as teenagers when they both worked at Rich’s Department Store at Shannon Mall, and later became friends when they met again at the Georgia State University Baptist Student Union. When they eventually found themselves single at the same time, the fireworks began! Jennifer loves to have fun, while Josh loves to accomplish things.
They enjoy spending time together (even if it’s yard work) and they really love a good night away from their two wonderful children! Josh and Jennifer both agree that marriage is tough, but worth it, if you can love God, love one another and try to be the partner God wants you to be. They also believe parents of children should team up in order to thwart the kids attempts to take over and dominate. They are two very different people, but under God’s blessings and love, they have one heartbeat.
